Membership

BPNZ is an open membership organisation. Any individual or organisation interested in advancing Bitcoin policy in New Zealand can apply.

Membership and donations

Bitcoin membership ($50) or donations — automated

  1. Member or donor visits website, clicks membership or donate button
  2. Redirected to BTCPayServer, enters name, email, company (optional)
  3. Pays invoice in Bitcoin
  4. On payment success: webhook fires Make.com → automatic sync:
  5. Creates record in Airtable (name, email, join date, status: active)
  6. Adds email to Mailer.lite membership list
  7. Triggers welcome email from Mailer.lite
  8. Member receives confirmation email and is active immediately

Fiat membership ($50) — manual confirmation, then automated

  1. Member deposits $50 to BNZ account with their name clearly stated
  2. Treasurer or Secretary checks bank regularly and identifies deposit
  3. Logs into BTCPayServer and manually marks invoice as "paid"
  4. Webhook fires → automatic sync (same as Bitcoin):
  5. Creates record in Airtable
  6. Adds email to Mailer.lite membership list
  7. Triggers welcome email
  8. If payee name is unclear, check with member to confirm identity
  9. Timeline: flexible, but ideally same business day

Member rights

  • Attend all general meetings including the Annual General Meeting
  • Vote in elections and on general business
  • Receive meeting notices and agendas
  • Propose items for general meetings
  • Access member directory (if applicable)

Member responsibilities

  • Comply with the Constitution and this handbook
  • Pay membership fees on time
  • Treat other members with respect
  • Participate constructively in society activities
